The Upsala Cardinals posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They breezed by Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on the road to the tune of 70-34. Given Upsala's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Long Prairie-Grey Eagle is ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jack Primus was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Primus is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Aden Warga was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win was the third in a row for Upsala, bringing their record for this year to 10-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upsala will challenge Osakis at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Osakis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, they will head out on the road to square off against St. John's Prep at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
