The Kofa Kings will head out to face off against the Cesar Chavez Champions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Kofa got the win against Gila Ridge by a conclusive 12-2. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Kings this season.
Jesus Villa looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kofa is 2-1 when Villa allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Ozzie Ortiz and Ryan Rosas did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Rosas went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ortiz has become a key player for Kofa: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Hector Mejia also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Kofa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cesar Chavez). Everything went their way against Maryvale on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-2 win.
Zade Munoz was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Cesar Chavez let Zaire Griffin and Carlos Leon run wild. Griffin went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Leon went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Leon has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Garcia, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Kofa has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Cesar Chavez, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
