Montgomery County is 7-2 against Wolfe County since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will face off against the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Montgomery County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Montgomery County came up short against Estill County and fell 6-3.
Kinley Auxier made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
Meanwhile, Wolfe County got themselves on the board against Lee County on Monday, but Lee County never followed suit. They blew past the Bobcats 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Laney Mayabb was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Holbrook, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten games. Gracie Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Wolfe County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Wolfe County's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-15. As for Montgomery County, their loss dropped their record down to 17-19.
Montgomery County couldn't quite finish off Wolfe County in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
