Lake Catholic extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-17. They lost 10-0 to the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Lake Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cailyn Forkins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Forkins has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's side, Shaye Tepley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, Tepley is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Bianca Czarnecki was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Leah Votjko was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lake Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will challenge rival Holy Name at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Royals 3.6, the Green Wave 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
