Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the Falcon Falcons proved on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 61-37 margin over Pueblo East. The win made it back-to-back wins for Falcon.
Falcon was led to victory by Karly Ohlrich and Cobelyn Wiesner. Ohlrich scored 18 points along with 5 steals, while Wiesner scored 18 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Cierra Barbary, who scored 7 points along with 4 steals and 4 blocks.
Despite the loss, Pueblo East saw an underclassman step up: Myah Abeyta scored 11 points along with 5 steals. Abeyta scored a full 29.7% of Pueblo East's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Cordova, who scored 10 points.
Falcon's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Pueblo East, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Falcon will be playing in front of their home fans against Vista Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Vista Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday. As for Pueblo East, they will head out on the road to face off against Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
