Copper Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 38-31 to the Sierra Linda Bulldogs. One positive for the Aztecs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Sierra Linda had a senior duo take command as Mariana Mathis posted 13 points and Aymee Medina dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mathis has scored at least a third of Sierra Linda's points. Sophya Goire was another key player, putting up seven points.

Copper Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Sierra Linda, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

When Copper Canyon and Sierra Linda next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Copper Canyon will try to stop Kellis' eight-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Similarly, Sierra Linda will try to stop Estrella Foothills' six-game winning streak when the meet at 9:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
