The Pawnee Heights Tigers were the 42-39 winner over the Rawlins County Buffaloes when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Pawnee Heights took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rawlins County on Tuesday. Pawnee Heights has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Davin Hamby, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals. Hamby scored a full 43.2% of Pawnee Heights' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leighton Munk, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Rawlins County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayan Rodriguez out in front who scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Rodriguez has scored at least 25% of Rawlins County's points. Another player making a difference was Braxton Dixson, who scored 13 points.
Pawnee Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Rawlins County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Pawnee Heights will square off against Central Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rawlins County, they will head out on the road to face off against Dighton at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dighton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
