The St. John's Islanders lost against the Burke Bulldogs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. St. John's suffered a rough 55-35 defeat at the hands of Burke. St. John's has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. John's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daeshia Buford, who scored 19 points along with six steals. Buford is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaniya Smith, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Burke, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
St. John's will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowcountry Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowcountry Leadership comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Burke, they will head out on the road to face off against Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cross will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
