2021 MaxPreps All Sac-Joaquin Section Football Team

Offensive Player of the Year
QB — Nicholas Coronado, Kimball (Tracy), Sr.
The Jaguars field general led the state in both passing yards (4,315) and touchdowns (56), and did so in 12 games (compared to No. 2 who played 15 games and threw for 3,975 yards). Coronado completed 68 percent of pass attempts against five interceptions.

Defensive Player of the Year
LB — Beau Davis, Argonaut (Jackson) Sr.
The Mother Lode Defensive Player of the Year did it all for the 6-AA State Champions. Davis was in on 161 total tackles, 117 of them solo. He was also the team's quarterback throwing for over 1,400 yards and rushing for nearly 600 yards and seven touchdowns.

Junior Player of the Year
Blake Nichelson, Manteca
An absolute beast for the Division III section champions, he rushed for 36 touchdowns and over 2,200 yards. He also caught seven touchdown passes. In the playoffs, he averaged 220 yards on the ground and 11 scores in four games.

Sophomore Player of the Year
Lamar Radcliffe, Sacramento
Averaged over 190 yards per game on the ground at running back as the Dragons star was third in the section in total rushing yards (2,109) in 11 games played.

Coaches of the Year

Rick Davis — Argonaut
The small-school coach led the program to its first state championship. A perfect way to go out as he is set to retire.

Sean Murphy — Vanden
The former Vanden player led the team to its first section title since he played back in 1995. The Vikings continued their magical run with a Division 3-AA state title.

Paul Doherty— Folsom
The Bulldogs were beaten by Rocklin and De La Salle by a combined score of 71-17 during the regular season. Doherty and his team bounced back in the playoffs to beat both on their way to a state title runner-up.

First Team Offense

QB — Tyler Tremain, Folsom, Sr.
The Sacramento Bee Most Valuable Player showed his value when he was injured late in the season and the team dropped two of three games while he was out. He came back for postseason play and led his team to a state title appearance.

QB — Tre Dimes, Vanden, Jr.
Threw for over 1,200 yards and tossed 19 touchdowns during the Vikings postseason run that was capped off with a Division 3-AA state title.

RB — Aiden Taylor, Central Catholic (Modesto), Sr.
Had at least one rushing touchdown in every game this season and led the state with 38 total. The senior averaged nearly eight yards per carry.

RB — Curron Borders, Antelope, Jr.
Caught everyone's attention when he rushed for 315 yards early in the season. He never looked back, becoming one of the top threats in the section.

RB — Lavelle Davis Jr., Placer (Auburn), Sr.
The Hillmen back averaged nearly 200 yards per game. In a game against Nevada Union, he carried the ball 37 times for 327 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

WR — Willie Clifton, Kimball, Sr.
Led the section with 18 receiving touchdowns and over 1,400 yards receiving. He also had four interceptions as a defensive back.

WR — Nathan Kent, Rocklin, Sr.
The Sierra Foothill League Offensive MVP was a major weapon as he averaged over 19 yard per reception for a Thunder team which went 12-0 before falling in the section title game to Folsom.

WR — Rico Flores Jr., Folsom, Jr.
The four-star do-it-all player for the Bulldogs still had over 1,100 yards receiving despite being double teamed for most of the season.

TE — Walker Lyons, Folsom, Jr.
The 6-foot-4 junior hauled in seven touchdowns and is considered one of the top tight ends in the Class of 2023.

OL — Simione Pale, Elk Grove, Jr.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound junior was named the Delta League Offensive Lineman of the Year.

OL — Brad Baur, Rocklin, Sr.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle was a key reason the Thunder averaged over 38 points per game.

OL — Jaxon King, Union Mine (El Dorado), Sr.
The 6-foot-8, 300-pound tackle was a huge reason the Diamondbacks had their most wins since 2010.

OL — Jacob Edmonds, Vacaville, Sr.
The two-time Monticello Empire League Lineman of the Year and was the centerpiece of a team who rushed for over 2,000 yards.

ATH — Jadyn Marshall, St. Mary's (Stockton), Sr.
The UCLA signee had over 1,800 all-purpose yards. The four-star wide out was the highest ranked played in the Class of 2022 from the Sac-Joaquin Section.

K — Jake Tremain, Folsom, Jr.
The junior was 69-for-69 in his point after attempts. He also made it hard for returners as he blasted 42 touchbacks.

First team defense

DL — Bobby Piland, Rocklin, Sr.
The Air Force commit could have been an All-Section player at multiple positions. He was named Sacramento Bee Lineman of the Year.

DL — Soni Finau, Elk Grove, Sr.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound defensive lineman and Cal Poly commit had 11 sacks for the Thundering Herd.

DL — Cam Loureiro, Oakdale, Sr.
The dual-threat defender caused havoc all season for opposing quarterbacks. Lourio was named a first-team All V.O.L selection as a defensive lineman.

DL — Orion Null, Vanden, Jr.
The linebacker/defensive lineman led the section in sacks with 16. He also had 116 total tackles during the team's state title run.

LB — Brandon Wong, Whitney (Rocklin), Sr.
The Sierra Foothill League Defensive Player of the Year had 16 tackles for a loss and over 100 total for the Wildcats.

LB — Jordan Wagner, Lincoln, Sr.
Named the Defensive Player of the Year by the Sacramento Bee after averaging over 10 tackles per game.

LB — Nakian Jackson, Edison (Stockton), Sr.
The Sacramento State commit was named the best defender in the Stockton area by Black Hat Football. When you watch his highlight tape, you see why.

LB — Josh Tremain, Folsom, Sr.
All over the field for the Bulldogs as he averaged over 10 tackles per game. The senior had 60 tackles during the team's five playoff games.

LB — Nick Afato, Yuba City, Jr.
Afato did it all for the Honkers, playing quarterback while at the same time notching nearly 100 tackles at linebacker.

DB — Elias Mullican, Rocklin, Sr.
The Sierra Foothill League MVP was a shutdown corner and a big-play weapon as a wide receiver.

DB — Jackson Hagopian, Jesuit (Carmichael) Sr.
Named Delta League Co-defensive Player of the Year after four interceptions and matching up against opponents top wideouts.

DB — Tyler Medina, Escalon, Sr.
The senior safety snagged seven interceptions for Division 5 section champion.

DB — Aemon Aldrich, Foresthill, Sr.
The small school star was tied for most interceptions in the state with 11.
