The Springstead Eagles entered their tilt with the Weeki Wachee Hornets with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Springstead walked away with a 63-53 win over Weeki Wachee on Friday. Given Springstead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Weeki Wachee is ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Austin Nicholson, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion McKenzie, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Springstead pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Weeki Wachee, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Springstead will head out on the road to take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weeki Wachee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nature Coast Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
