Two dominant guards in Olivia Wren and Desirai Chappell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Roosevelt Teddies will head out on the road to square off against the Richfield Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Roosevelt will be strutting in after a win while Richfield will be coming in after a loss.
Last Thursday, Roosevelt earned a 47-36 win over Washburn. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Washburn is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wren continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. She also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cady Davis, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Richfield pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Visitation. Richfield has struggled against Visitation recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Roosevelt has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Richfield, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Everything went Roosevelt's way against Richfield in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Roosevelt made off with a 74-48 win. With Roosevelt ahead 41-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
