Softball Recap: Berwick Has No Trouble Against Hanover Area

Berwick barely beat Hanover Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hawkeyes on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hawkeyes: they've now won nine in a row.

Makayla Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Ashworth, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Liliana Belles also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Berwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Berwick's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Hanover Area, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Berwick will take on Holy Redeemer at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hanover Area, they will face off against Wyoming Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
