After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Mead Academy, the Awaken Christian Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Laughlin by a score of 53-41. That's another feather in the cap for Awaken Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Awaken Christian was led to victory by Gavin Kepler and Billy Kepler. Kepler scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals, while Kepler dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kepler has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abel Sebsebie, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Laughlin still got an impressive performance from Marcello Faccioli, who scored 18 points along with six steals. It was the first time this season that Faccioli scored 15 or more points. Jason Castro was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Awaken Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Laughlin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season.
Awaken Christian will play host again and welcome Adelson, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Awaken Christian is facing Adelson at the right time seeing as Adelson is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Laughlin, they will be playing at home against Needles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Needles has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,425 points over their last 20 contests.
