Chaparral waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Douglass Bulldogs. Considering the Roadrunners have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Daxton Hostetler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brody Latta was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trace Hadsall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Chaparral's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Douglass, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.
