Shepherd has gone a perfect 5-0 against Farwell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bluejays are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Shepherd's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Farwell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Shepherd was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bullock Creek on Friday. The Bluejays' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lancers a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kaden Yuncker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Bryce Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four matchup, Farwell brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bullock Creek 10-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Like Shepherd, Farwell also got a great game from a two-way player: Zane Hanna. On the mound, Hanna pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Mason Esterline tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Farwell is 6-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-13 otherwise. At the plate, Hanna went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Esterline got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Farwell let Asher Yarhouse and Gavin Brown run wild. Yarhouse went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Brown went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Yarhouse is becoming a predictor of Farwell's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 10-15 when he doesn't).
Shepherd's record is now 22-7. As for Farwell, their record now sits at 12-16.
Farwell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shepherd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Farwell, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Shepherd's hitters?
Everything went Shepherd's way against Farwell in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Shepherd made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
