Veritas Academy extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 22-6 to the Vanguard College Prep Vikings. If Veritas Academy was looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to Vanguard College Prep when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Austin Layne made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
As for Vanguard College Prep, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Vanguard College Prep's side, Holice Pegram made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pegram has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Noah Gray was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, nine RBI, and three runs. Chase Smith was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
While Veritas Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
