The Aquinas Fightin' Irish had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They slipped by Lincoln County 38-37 on Saturday. The victory was just what Aquinas needed coming off of a 67-43 defeat in their prior contest.
Aquinas was led to victory by Emma Kate Noegel and Elle Morris. Noegel scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three steals, while Morris almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. Noegel hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games.
Despite the loss, Lincoln County saw an underclassman step up: Janiah Norman scored 23 points along with two steals. That was a full 62.2% of Lincoln County's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kadence Elam, who scored four points along with four steals.
Aquinas' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-13. As for Lincoln County, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Aquinas will face off against Warren County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. As for Lincoln County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greene County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lincoln County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Saturday.
