The Boquet Valley Griffins will head out on the road to challenge the Ticonderoga Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Boquet Valley has five straight victories, Ticonderoga has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Boquet Valley beat Peru 59-48. Given Boquet Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Peru is ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boquet Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddox Rice, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rice has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hooper, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Ticonderoga suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Moriah, falling 51-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ticonderoga has scored all season.
Boquet Valley pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Ticonderoga, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Boquet Valley against Ticonderoga in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-39 win. Will Boquet Valley repeat their success, or does Ticonderoga have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
