The Girard Indians were the 35-33 winner over the McKinley Red Dragons when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Girard was the victim of a tough 48-28 defeat at the hands of McKinley on Friday. Girard was down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
When it comes to explaining why Girard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ahmad Curd. Despite the final result, he rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Curd is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last four games he's played. Anthony Bengala made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Antuan Gardner went supernova for McKinley, rushing for 325 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Gardner is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last ten games he's played.
Girard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for McKinley, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Girard will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Struthers will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. McKinley will take on Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
