Selma and Dinuba are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Selma Bears will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Dinuba Emperors at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Selma has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Selma didn't have quite enough to beat Tulare Western and fell 6-5.
Moriah Preciado was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Dinuba came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The Emperors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.
Maranda Requejo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ashlee Orozco was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Kiley Gomez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Dinuba hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Dinuba now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Selma, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3-1 record this season.
Everything went Selma's way against Dinuba in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Selma made off with an 8-2 victory. Will Selma repeat their success, or does Dinuba have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
