St. Mary took a 35-point defeat the last time they faced off against Calvert Hall, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints pulled ahead with a 14-13 photo finish over the Cardinals on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Saints were the better team in the second half.

Dj Hitaffer threw for 143 yards and two TDs. Dominic Scali was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards. On the ground, Jamal Epps rushed for 46 yards.

Calvert Hall's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Johnson, who picked up 201 receiving yards. Harrison O'Connell was another key back, gaining 92 total yards and a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Mary's and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.0 points over those games. As for Calvert Hall, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
