Orestimba has been on the road for four straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Argonaut Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Orestimba was able to grind out a solid victory over Hughson, taking the game 53-42. Given Orestimba's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Hughson is ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orestimba's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Marin dominguez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Marin dominguez's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Melo, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Argonaut can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-40 win over Denair. The win was just what Argonaut needed coming off of a 73-34 loss in their prior game.
Orestimba's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Argonaut, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
