The Gregory School Hawks came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Benson 51-49. Given The Gregory School's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Benson is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Gregory School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Razin Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justus Turner, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The Gregory School pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Benson, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-11.
The Gregory School will head out on the road to face off against San Manuel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willcox at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
