4A Region I District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Bowie moved up to 706 from 872 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region I District 1.
Jefferson was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league.
Chapin's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Seth Gonzalez threw for 275 and three touchdowns and Jaylen Addison had 215 yards receiving. On the ground Geremiah Satele chipped in 100 yards. Ricky Williams helped Chapin's passing attack out by catching three balls for 60 yards.
The Huskies' Gonzalez and Addison have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gonzalez has thrown for 799 yards this season, while Addison, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 32 catches for 472 yards. Austin's Andy Banuelos leads the league in rushing yards with 470.
A big matchup in 4A Region I District 1 this week will be when the Panthers take on the Bears. Austin is currently in third, while Bowie is in second.
Chapin took down Burges 30-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gonzalez ran for 51 yards in the win.
