Plymouth Whitemarsh has gone a perfect 6-0 against Springfield Township recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Colonials are taking a road trip to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Plymouth Whitemarsh has three straight wins, Springfield Township has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Plymouth Whitemarsh needed a bit of extra time to put away Wissahickon. They snuck past the Trojans with a 33-27 victory.

Plymouth Whitemarsh's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Michael Giangiulio, who rushed for 231 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and Cole Reilly, who rushed for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Those 231 rushing yards gave Giangiulio a new career-high. Amir Butler was in the mix as well, providing Plymouth Whitemarsh with one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Plymouth Whitemarsh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 403 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 242 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Springfield Township played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 34-14 to Hatboro-Horsham. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Plymouth Whitemarsh will have to keep a close watch on Nathan Torrealba and Zymir Small, a pair of players who had a big impact on Springfield Township's prior game. Torrealba threw for 170 yards and two TDs, while Small gained 101 total yards and a touchdown.
Plymouth Whitemarsh now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Springfield Township, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Giangiulio and Small. Giangiulio just won't slow down this season and has run in 12 touchdowns while averaging 131.1 rushing yards per game. Small has been a dominant force too and has averaged 89.8 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Plymouth Whitemarsh against Springfield Township when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
