The South Central Rebels will take on the West Washington Senators at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, South Central turned things around against Austin on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 16-5 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Breanna Hess was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Hess was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Abby Roy was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Isla Schweitzer was another key player, going 1-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
South Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, West Washington put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Charlestown.
Emery Haub spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Schmidt was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Meredith Deaton, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
West Washington pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
South Central might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from West Washington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
