Softball Recap: Berwick Wins Going Away Against Patterson

Berwick won the last time they faced Patterson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Berwick Panthers blew past the Patterson Lumberjacks 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Madison Diboll was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Diboll was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makinzie Macaluso, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples. Kumari Nadar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Berwick and bumps their season record up to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Patterson, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Berwick Panthers duke it out with E.D. White Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Patterson, they will take on Centerville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
