Newfane is 9-1 against Albion since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Newfane Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Albion Purple Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Newfane has nine straight victories, Albion has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Newfane stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-43 win over Akron. Given Newfane's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Akron is ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Newfane's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Seitz led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Seitz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Capen Mac, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Albion pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Royalton-Hartland. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (55), Albion still had to take the loss.
Newfane's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Albion, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything came up roses for Newfane against Albion when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 88-34 victory. Does Newfane have another victory up their sleeve, or will Albion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
