Monte Vista Christian is a perfect 4-0 against King City since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Mustangs coming up. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monte Vista Christian has six straight victories, King City has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Monte Vista Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against More by a score of 4-1 on Saturday. The four-run effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Chris Bautista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyson Shaw, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Dante Darnell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, while it was King City who put the first points on the board on Tuesday, it was Templeton who put up more. King City lost 17-5 to Templeton.
JC Navarro and Jason Moreno stepped up to the plate in a big way. Navarro scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Moreno went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Monte Vista Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs. As for King City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
King City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monte Vista Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for King City, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Monte Vista Christian's sizable advantage in that area, King City will need to find a way to close that gap.
