The Providence-St. Mel Knights's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They managed a 68-62 win over Olympia. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Providence-St. Mel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Hughes Jr. out in front who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Boyd, who scored 15 points.
Providence-St. Mel's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Olympia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence-St. Mel will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Saint Ignatius College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Olympia, they will be playing at home against Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Olympia in Illinois (Tri-Valley is ranked 102nd, while Olympia is ranked 443rd).
