Watersprings had a senior duo take command as Matthew Kinoshita dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards and Titus Driver dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Driver a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Ryan Demkowicz, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points.
Watersprings smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Challis lost to Mackay at home by a 64-48 margin on Friday.
Watersprings will need focus on slowing down Jacen Farr, one of several Challis players who made an impact when they last played. He almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Farr's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Ollar, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.
Watersprings' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Challis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Watersprings hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61 points per game. However, it's not like Challis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Watersprings came up short against Challis when the teams last played back in January, falling 52-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Farr, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 27 points and seven rebounds. Now that Watersprings knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
