There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Highland's senior Jack Etter, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
Stevenson gave both Mundelein and its quarterback (sacked seven times) a rough time last week. Stevenson put the hurt on Mundelein with a conclusive 43 - 0 victory. One of the main ringleaders for Stevenson was junior Jean marc Etienne, who ran for 117 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. Thanks to its success, Stevenson cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
East St. Louis got a 57 - 33 win over Belleville West last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Treven Swingler. Swingler rushed for 222 yards and four touchdowns. That performance landed Swingler among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Lincoln-Way East (1st in the power rankings) and Homewood-Flossmoor (5th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. The final score between Lincoln-Way East and Homewood-Flossmoor was a 48 - 6 blowout in Lincoln-Way East's favor. Lincoln-Way East made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Marist (8th in the power rankings) and Nazareth Academy (2nd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Marist has three high-flying games in a row, Nazareth Academy four), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
