After a string of three wins, the Rustburg Red Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to William Campbell 44-39. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rustburg came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while William Campbell is ranked 90th).
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophie Knowles, who scored 8 points. Another player making a difference was Samiyah Jackson, who scored 9 points.
Rustburg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for William Campbell, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rustburg will challenge Altavista at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. William Campbell is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Randolph-Henry at 6:00 p.m. on December 6th.
