The Page Pirates suffered their closest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Grimsley by a score of 42-39. Page has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Page lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hattie Sloyan. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Sloyan hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Assyria Hooper, who scored nine points.
Grimsley found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Graves, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Graves also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Destinee Gardner was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Page's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-14. As for Grimsley, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.
Page will face off against Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Guilford will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Page surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grimsley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Grimsley's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Southwest Guilford has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
