The Nease Panthers proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 40) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Menendez and snuck past 40-38. The squad ran away with 30 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Nease's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniela Reich led the charge by scoring six points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Casey Eliason, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Menendez still got an impressive performance from Kali Harris, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Harris hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Scibelli, who scored six points along with four steals.
Nease has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Menendez, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Nease will square off against the Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Menendez, they will face off against the Sandcrabs at TBD on Monday. Seabreeze will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while the Falcons are ranked 129th).
