Given Cedarville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Mechanicsburg is ranked 812th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Mechanicsburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keegan Freeze. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Freeze continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Lane Poland was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Cedarville's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Mechanicsburg, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Cedarville will head out on the road to challenge Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
