After a string of four wins, the Cross County Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 68-50 fall against Auburn. While losing is never fun, Cross County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Auburn is ranked eighth).
Tanner Hollinger and Ashton Seim certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Hollinger scored 18 points along with two steals, while Seim scored 13 points.
Cross County's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5. As for Auburn, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0.
Cross County will take on Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburn, they will head out on the road to challenge Wilber-Clatonia at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Wilber-Clatonia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
