Chartiers Valley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering South Fayette just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. Surprisingly, this marked the Colts' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Chartiers Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney O'Connor, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Moon Area took on Upper St. Clair on Thursday. The Tigers came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 12-8.
Katie DeMarco was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over 11.1 innings while giving up seven earned runs off 15 hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-7 with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cami Chambers, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alina McMahon, who went 1-for-6 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Moon Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Chartiers Valley's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Moon Area, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
