The Cross Plains Buffaloes had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 59-44 bruising from Valley.
Valley found their leader in underclassman Kanyon Taylor, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. The contest was Taylor's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Cruz, who scored 11 points.
Cross Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Cross Plains will head out on the road to face off against Santa Anna at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley, they will square off against Haskell at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday. Haskell comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
