The Stillwater Warriors will face off against the Whitehall Railroaders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stillwater will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Monday, Stillwater made easy work of Cairo-Durham and carried off an 18-5 victory. Considering the Warriors have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Emery Powers was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Eva Thompson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Stillwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Whitehall ultimately got the result they hoped for last Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Fair Haven. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Railroaders.
Khloe Paddock made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Waters, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bella Spitoleri, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Stillwater is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Whitehall, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Stillwater has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Whitehall struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Stillwater came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitehall in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Railroaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
