On Wednesday, the Cherry Creek Bruins faced the Arapahoe Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cherry Creek enjoyed a cozy 53-37 win over Arapahoe. The win was nothing new for Cherry Creek as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Cherry Creek to victory were Molly Dorighi and Tianna Chambers. Dorighi scored nine points along with three steals, while Chambers scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Braelynn Barnett was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Despite the loss, Arapahoe still got an impressive performance from Liz Gentry, who scored 19 points. Gentry has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times she's played.
Arapahoe struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Cherry Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Arapahoe, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherry Creek will take on Mullen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mullen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Arapahoe, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Grandview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday.
