The West Central Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to North White for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-48 victory on the road. With that victory, West Central brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.
West Central was led to victory by Brendan Grindstaff and Bryce Nannenga. Grindstaff scored 23 points along with six steals, while Nannenga dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Nannenga has scored at least 25% of West Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Marlatt, who scored five points along with nine assists and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why North White lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dane Hood. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Brenden Hood, who scored ten points.
Even though they lost, North White were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central only racked up 20 assists.
West Central's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for North White, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
West Central is on the road again on Saturday and play against South Central at 10:00 a.m. on December 30, 2023. Hopefully South Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday. North White and Boone Grove will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at. Boone Grove is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game.
