In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. Among the action were the efforts of Corona del Mar's junior Ethan Garbers, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Central got a 42 - 21 win over Edison last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Trent Tompkins. Tompkins threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns. That performance landed Tompkins among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Oaks Christian (4th in the power rankings) and JSerra Catholic (6th). Oaks Christian won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by JSerra Catholic 35 - 34. One of the main ringleaders for Oaks Christian was senior Zach Charbonnet, who ran for 221 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Centennial (3rd in the power rankings) and Mater Dei (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Mater Dei and Centennial both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Mater Dei with ten and Centennial with ten), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
