When it comes to explaining why Grundy County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carlee Smartt. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kallie Parson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Cascade's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaydence Miller, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Sophie Ray was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Grundy County's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4. As for Cascade, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grundy County will take on Van Buren County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Van Buren County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Cascade, they will head out on the road to face off against Forrest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forrest has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21.
