Holmdel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Governor Livingston 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since November 7, 2024.
Holmdel wouldn't go down easily and took Governor Livingston into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 16-14.
Meanwhile, Pinelands Regional faced Seneca in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Golden Eagles.
Pinelands Regional never let Seneca on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 27-25, 25-16.
Pinelands Regional's win came from a few key players Holmdel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayda Quigley, who had 22 digs, eight kills, and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three). Chloe Tucker was another key player, getting five digs and three aces.
Pinelands Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matchups.
Holmdel's record now sits at 19-1. As for Pinelands Regional, their record is now 25-4.
