Sherman (Texas) fell 17-10 to
Wylie (Texas).
After nabbing the lead on a field goal, the Bearcats went into halftime with a 10-7 lead. The Pirates scored the winning points with a touchdown that came in the third quarter.
Sherman's only touchdown came on a run in the first quarter.
Wylie has had a rough season, allowing 30.1 points per game. However, Wylie's defense stepped up, holding Sherman well above its season average of 1.6 points per game.
The Pirates got revenge for last year's 45-35 loss to SHS with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Wylie, which was coming off a 35-27 defeat at the hands of Denison in its previous game.
In a 4A Region II District 13 game next week Wylie (5-4) takes on Royse City, and Sherman (3-6) will go up against Greenville also in a 4A Region II District 13 game.
