The Cross Keys Indians will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Atlanta Girls' School Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on December 5th. Cross Keys will be strutting in after a victory while Atlanta Girls' School will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, everything went Cross Keys' way against Howard as Cross Keys made off with a 45-19 victory. The win was just what Cross Keys needed coming off of a 57-13 defeat in their prior matchup.
Cross Keys found their leader in underclassman Lindsey Tran, who scored 13 points along with 6 steals. Another player making a difference was Nicole Reseniz, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Atlanta Girls' School was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 54-48 to Creekside Christian Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Atlanta Girls' School in their matchups with Creekside Christian Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite their loss, Atlanta Girls' School saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jade Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Libby Knott was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 5 assists.
Cross Keys' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 1-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Atlanta Girls' School, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Cross Keys was dealt a bruising 43-16 defeat at the hands of Atlanta Girls' School in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Cross Keys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
