When it comes to explaining why Bethany Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyson Chupp. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with 3 steals. Chupp scored a full 51.2% of Bethany Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Schlabach, who scored 9 points.
JJ Welch was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Aleks Pecoski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Bethany Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Marquette Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Bethany Christian will head out on the road to face off against Morgan Township at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Morgan Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday. As for Marquette Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Central at 7:30 p.m.
