The Walnut Ridge Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge the West Memphis Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Ridge will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Walnut Ridge and Newport, and Walnut Ridge kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Greyhounds on Thursday. Four seems to be a good number for the Bobcats as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Walnut Ridge got a great performance from Riley Richey as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Jace Dulaney was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Augustine, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, West Memphis lost 15-3 to DeWitt on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chris Bolton was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and one run.
West Memphis' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Walnut Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
West Memphis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Walnut Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. It's a different story for West Memphis, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Walnut Ridge's hitters?
Walnut Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over West Memphis in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 17-14. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
