If the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders were feeling good off their 75-45 takedown of the Kelly Hawks last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Saxony Lutheran suffered a tough 72-51 defeat at the hands of Central on Monday. It was the first time this season that Saxony Lutheran let down their fans at home.
Defeat or not, Saxony Lutheran got some senior leadership from Evie Caruso who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds and Rebecca Johnson who scored 17 points. Johnson scored a full 33.3% of Saxony Lutheran's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Abigail Haley was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Saxony Lutheran's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Central, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Saxony Lutheran will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Paul Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. Paul Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 last Tuesday. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Farmington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
